CBD Basics

CBD is everywhere because there are many benefits of this natural plant-based medicine. The future of using this plant as an alternative to prescription drugs is exciting, to say the least. But what is it exactly?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive compound and one of many cannabinoids, found in Marijuana and Hemp, both of the Cannabis Sativa plant family. These 2 plants have many of these chemical compounds called cannabinoids, but the main ones currently are THC & CBD. Both contain CBD, but there’s a much higher percentage in Hemp. Whereas, Marijuana has the higher concentration of THC, the component that gets one ‘high.” To be legal, Hemp CBD has to test with less than 0.3% THC.

There is a difference in the potency of Hemp CBD, depending on how it’s extracted. A Full Spectrum product is one that contains all of the cannabinoids and terpenes (flavors/scents) which work synergistically together in what is referred to as the Entourage Effect. A Broad-Spectrum product will have the THC removed but include the other cannabinoids. An Isolate is only the CBD cannabinoid that has been isolated and removed.

Hemp oil, by itself is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. There are NO cannabinoids in hemp oil from seeds and is mainly used in beauty products because of the healthy fats, giving it moisturizing benefits.

Endocannabinoid System

How does CBD work within the body? The Endocannabinoid System, is a network of receptors spread throughout the body that interact with all of our most vital life functions, including the immune system, inflammation, anxiety/depression, sleep pattern, moods and pain. Our body makes our own cannabinoids, for instance cannabinoids are found in human breastmilk.  However most of us are deficient. Azule CBD Power Drops help balance the endocannabinoid network.

Plant based cannabinoids products cannabinoids are like a lock and key system that enables our body to communicate better by supplementing depleted endocannabinoid receptors with high quality full spectrum plant-based cannabis extract oil.

Externally, CBD is very beneficial. Maybe it’s because the skin has the largest number of CB2 receptors. When CBD infused topical lotions or salves are applied to skin, CBD uses its anti-inflammatory properties to provide rapid/long-lasting pain relief. CBD may be useful for treating other skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne.

CBD can also be considered as a preventive solution by helping reduce the risk of diabetes/obesity, improve cholesterol profiles, lowers risk of cardiovascular disease, reduces risk of cancer, improves brain health, protects against bone disease, in anti-inflammatory and helps protect &heal the skin.

When taking internally, it is always best to start small with approximately 3-10mgs if you are taking a full spectrum product. It is best to take it in late afternoon/early evening and measure how you feel. It affects everyone differently, most just feel a relaxation effect. Try this small dosage for a few days, take more if you feel you need to. Gradually increase dosage and monitor how you feel. You want to find that sweet spot where you can feel improvement.

Most people with bad pain/anxiety, a daily dose of approx. 20–50mg is a sweet range of relaxation. Or you can take a lower amount for daily maintenance and take more on the days of bad pain or other conditions. It is best to take an hour before or after any medication.
